i was at the African Shrine last nite for the first event commemorating Fela`s life and death. it was a lovely show and i had mad fun. stormed the venue at 10pm with friends, and caught most of Seun kuti`s performance. He was given kudos by all at the show for trying to fill his late father`s massive shoes. He was decked in red attire with tight trousers like Fela and even danced like the great Afrobeat maestro. It was obvious though that he was trying too hard to be like his father, down to the tatoo on his back saying "FELA LIVES". Femi took over the stage at 12am and the crowd went ballistic. He has a captivating stage presence and thrilled the crowd with his mastery of the instruments. He showed superb control over his band, which were dressed in matching outfits. His backup dancers were another case as they had boys spell bound with their gyrating bodies and sensuous dance sequences. I had mad fun with enough drinks to keep my spirits high and danced and grooved till 2am. All in all it was my best shrine experience
